Can I use these in the microwave?  

Yes you can! But keep the silicone sleeve on the base when you use it in the microwave so you don’t burn your hands when you take it out.

Can I also microwave the lid?   

No, the lid is not microwave safe.

Are these boxes leak proof?  

Yes, the silicone seal and clips means this range is 100% leakproof and airtight, which together with the naturally antibacterial properties of steel and glass, ensures that your food will stay fresher for longer.  

Can I put it in the dishwasher & freezer and oven?  

Yes, the boxes are safe to use in the dishwasher (lid is top rack only), freezer-safe, and the whole thing is oven-safe. When freezing, take care not to over fill, particularly if meal prepping liquids as they can expand when frozen.

How durable is the glass base?

The base is made from borosilicate glass which is known for its low thermal expansion and high resistance to thermal and chemical stress, although it can still break or crack if it is exposed to excessive force or extreme temperatures. The lunch bowl can withstand temperatures of up to 450 degrees Celsius so is fine in the oven or microwave. Just be a bit careful washing it up and try not to drop it onto a hard floor. It’s safe to fill with boiling water too.

How do I remove the silicone base for washing?

The grey silicone base just peels off when you want to remove it, then, because it's silicone, you can just stick it back on and it will stay on!

Vacuum Seal

The silicone tab on the lid creates an airtight seal. Press the lid on and then push the tab down to create the seal. The lid will stay firmly on - no clips or bands required! To take the lid off, pull the tab up first to release the vacuum seal.

As always with Elephant Box, their products are excellent in my view. One can see the quality, the glass is thick, but not heavy and the lids are fantastic-they seal shut and the air lock is a great addition. The fact that one can place them in the microwave (sans lid) is an added bonus.

Nice stylish lunch bowls but the rubber bottom is not fully attached to the glass and so water gets caught under it when washing and drying - seems an odd design. Slightly concerned about the possibility of stagnating water if not used constantly as getting all of the water out and ensuring it is completely dry before storing away is almost impossible.

Hi Lyndsay, the silicone base is meant to be removable. So that it can be cleaned. Just take it off & dry it before putting it back on. :) Joy
