What is Global Recycled Standard?

The Global Recycled Standard (GRS) is a voluntary product standard for tracking and verifying the content of recycled materials in a final product. The standard applies to the full supply chain and addresses traceability, environmental principles, social requirements, chemical content and labelling.

What is RPET fabric?

RPET is the abbreviation for recycled polyethene terephthalate or, essentially, recycled plastic, this can be in the form of bottles, fishing nets, straws etc. Once processed, the recycled plastic can be used to make a host of different products; from reusable plastic packaging to textile items like activewear, outdoor gear, and even shoes.

Why use RPET fabric?

• RPET fabric is made from recycled plastic which has been diverted from ending up in the ocean or landfill. Recycling plastic waste is a sustainable, conscious method to help the environment stay cleaner.
• RPET fabric uses up to 85% less energy than creating products our of virgin plastic and significantly less water that producing cotton products (organic or not). 
• It’s certainly not perfect, but we think it’s a step in the right direction and we are pleased to offer these bags made from recycled plastic waste in a fair-trade factory.
